Weakness: Digital Health and Wellness
Too often in todays society we see teens attached to their phones and computers. This generation is unaware of the health risks that can come from over exposed to technology. I would admit that one of my digital weaknesses is the amount I use technology. I carry my phone with my everywhere and check it quite often. Also I use my computer everyday whether it’s for homework or social media. When I researched this topic I found that there are several circumstances where people have become addicted to their iPads, kindles, iPhones, etc. To help people not be so reliable on their digital devices I think we should read more paper back books as well as delete social media websites that may consume a lot of your time. Also I have seen first hand young children become attached to devices such as Wii, or iPods, so parents need to limit the amount of use of these products. Below is a link that helps parents prevent their child from having to much screen time and gives suggestions of what to do instead.

Digital Law: Illegal Downloading
Today students are not very aware of the many laws they maybe breaking when they take resources off of the computer. This is something I will make sure my students are very aware of when they begin to use the Internet on a regular basis. I believe that illegally downloading movies and music is the most common way this generation breaks the digital laws. To incorporate this issue in my classroom I would read students the article provided below and discuss the consequences they may face. This is something that so many individuals do, and I would hate to see one of my students charged for this when I could have prevented the issue.

Activity
The activity I would use in my classroom to raise a child’s awareness of too much screen time would be a lot of fun! What I would ask my students to do is take a quiz answering questions about the amount of screen time they have a day. Then I would have 5-6 activities pre-selected to do with my students. This would show them options of what they could do rather than play on their devices. An activity I would show them is how to make gak (tutorial in Thing 20). Also I would show them games they could play with their family so that they also receive attention from their parents. Then I would allow the students to try each activity in a station manner where they would rotate every 10 minutes.
