Video Resources

The first video website I used was called Teaching Channel. This website was very user friendly and ha:d wonderful resources. What I found very useful was, placed above the video was a description with what common core standard the skill in the video covered. Then underneath the videos were more videos related to the one you just watched.

The next video I watched was on PBS Learning Media called 5 Bugs= 30 Glows of Power. This website was very friendly to use. It had hundreds of videos on the topic I was interested in, which normally would be hard to find a good video but it wasn’t! There was the option to narrow down your search by grade and level of content you were looking for. The video I watched would be a fun way to get students excited about learning math. It was created as a cartoon as were many of the other videos on this website.
Audio Resource
(iTunes/ iTunes Radio)

The audio resource I looked at was iTunes. I found iTunes to be kind of difficult to use. It was hard to find what I was looking for and it did not provide many options in comparison to the other resources I looked at. Also the resources were at a much higher level that I would need for my classroom. The first way I would use iTunes in my classroom would be playing podcasts for my students. This is a way to change up the learning process and to get children excited. Another way I would use iTunes in my classroom is by using the new radio feature. This would be a great place to make a playlist for my students when they are working well in class.

This website provides fun interactive cartoons to introduce a new topic to students. There are endless numbers of movies that are not to long. Also it is very easy to find exactly what you are looking for! I think that PBS Learning would be a great way to get students excited about learning a new subject. |
Two Activities:

The activity I chose for my classroom is one in which the students will create their own “eco park” found on the National Geographic Education website. This activity will help students learn what different animals and plants are involved in the ecosystem near them. This will be done by using the internet and students creativity to research and recreate the ecosystem near their home. I will use this activity to help modify the lesson by substituting what would normally just be a boring work sheet with an interactive project. This project will also help students develop research skills for the future.

The next resource I found has multiple different activities and resources to help teach my students about energy. One way I would use the activities on this site it by starting class off with a riddle as my attention grabber. There are also quizzes that I could have my students take to see what they know about energy. I would use this resource to modify a lesson by augmentation or using online resources to take quizzes. I found this website to be fun and easy to you. I can’t wait to use it in my classroom!
