Key Elements
Although I do not have a classroom of my own yet there are parts of Differentiated Instructions that I will include in my classroom. To begin my lessons I will set an objective that my students will be well aware of. Then to go along with this objective I will form activities that “actively align to the objective”. After I have stated the objective I will give my students a pre assessment to see where each students understanding is on the topic we are about to discuss. This will help me understand which students will need more help than others. The next differentiated instruction you will find in my classroom is flexible group work that involves critical and creative thinking. I think that group work is a very important skill that students need to develop at a young age. This is why in my classroom I will form many different group activities that make my students stretch their brains. The groups will vary according to each activity but the only way the activities can be completed is by working in groups and including all students thought. I believe this not only helps students learn but it also helps to form social skills that they will need in the future.
The Struggling Learner
This article is a great example of what a teacher experiences every school year with the diversity of their students. One group of students I commonly forget is the students that are new to the English language. What I discovered from this article is the idea of using a text to audio converter to help these students learn English. This would be a great way for them to get accumulated to spelling, reading, and talking in English. First the child would have to type the words from the provided article into the computer. This would help them develop stronger spelling. As they are doing this they are also reading along which helps them to become stronger readers. Once these steps are done the students can have the text converted to audio. Last the students will follow along while the text is being read to them. Thinking about all the steps the individual student would have to go through also makes me realize how much better a student will comprehend the text. Most students read a text once and are done. These students will be reading it twice as well as copying it down, increasing their comprehension tremendously. This tool will also be helpful for the students that struggle with reading normally. It will help them comprehend more and identify words better.

Having known resources on hand for your diverse learners is very important. The resource I to help my diverse learners is called iKnowthat.com. On this website there are hundreds of different games for students to play while practicing the concept they are struggling with. They have every subject a teacher could imagine on this website. I would use iKnowit.com in two main ways. The first way would be to use this website as a class activity. The entire class could help me answer the questions as a warm up activity. The next way would be to help an individual student who is struggling with a certain subject. I would allow him or her to use it on the iPads in the classroom and tell the parents about the website. This website will help support my struggling learners as well as bring fun innovative games into a hard subject.

Text to Audio Conversion
Text to audio conversion is a great tool to use for a diverse classroom. If I were to use this tool in my classroom, I would use it for a message to my students when they have a substitute. This would make the message more serious and personal than if the teacher read the note. Also I could use it as a tool for my struggling readers. This would help them comprehend better which is something several children struggle with. Also I did not like the voice of the text to auto conversion. I feel as though it was very choppy and would be hard for a new English learner to understand.
