Google Maps
Google maps are not normally a resource I would think to use in my field of teaching (Math and Science). When I was working on thing 12 I thought of a great way to use Google maps in my math classroom. I could use Google maps for a conversion lesson. Students could enter their address in and the schools address in to the directions section and see how many miles they live from the school. Then they could convert miles into feet or yards. This would be a fun and different way for students to learn conversion, and distance. The picture below displaces the distance from my house to my high school. |
Quizlet
Link: http://quizlet.com/45956956/scientific-method-flash-cards/ I made a set of note card that my students would use to study the scientific method. I think that this would be a great resource to tell your students about to help them study. I used hundreds of notecards when I was in school and would end up losing them. Quizlet would allow you to make notecards for your students to use and they would never loose them. You could use them every year, which is a huge time saver for a teacher. On the SAMR model quizlet is augmentation. |
Interactive Website of Choice
Link: http://illuminations.nctm.org The interactive website I would use in my classroom would be Illuminations. Illuminations is a website I would use in my classroom to practice different math skills. I would also use this as a website that students can use in the computer lab or on iPads. There are tons of different types of games that you can do with the students or send the link home for their parents to practice with them. The game I tried helped kids make change with real money. |
