The story I found was called Wii Remote Interactive Whiteboard for $60. In this story a teacher demonstrates how to create a smart board in your classroom by only spending $60. This interactive white board is capable of playing games similar to the ones on a smart board. One of my favorite parts of this technology discovery is how the application comes with different types of paper, including graphing paper. This will be extremely helpful as a future math teacher. I would not have to create graphs out of tape or markers. From the ‘best practice” model the Wii whiteboard would be used as a reinforcement tool to help my students master the objective they are learning. The SAMR model that this tool covers is modification. It takes a simple idea of a white board and modifies it into an interactive white.

Emerging Technology Tools
After overviewing the 5 emerging technology tools I was amazed. I have never seen or heard of anything like these objects. The important thing about these objects is they could enhance a child’s desire to learn immensely. The device that really caught my attention was the 3-D printer. This device would be so cool to have in my math class in the future. I could use this device to create shapes right before my students’ eyes. This could help them understand dimensions and geometry much better. Also math is a subject that a lot of students struggle with so having a device such as this would make learning math fun!

BYOD
Bring your own device also known, as BYOD is the idea of having student bring their own technology into the classroom in order to enhance their learning. I truly do not know where I stand on this idea. I think that the pros and cons are too even to hold a strong opinion. I do believe that BYOD would enhance a child’s learning. Students are so accustom to using technology at home that they get bored in your typical classroom. Also there are so many applications and programs that students could download that get students excited about learning and help them to desire success more. On the other hand though BYOD could cause major distractions in the classroom. Students could be using their devices for social media or texting. Also electronics often have technical difficulties that you would probably have to stop and wait for students constantly. Lastly not every student is able to bring his or her own device to school. Some students cannot afford such an expensive device that I feel as though they would feel left out and would not be excited to learn the topic being taught on the device. I believe that BYOD comes with costs and benefits. This will be something that I will have to test in my own classroom to truly see the outcome.
